The brains behind some of Britain’s most iconic adverts has been announced as Erskine’s newest ambassador.

Trevor Beattie, 61, is famed for being the man to have devised the legendary ‘Hello Boys’ campaign for Wonderbra in the 90s, as well creating the FCUK brand for French Connection.

He becomes Erskine’s third ambassador, following in the footsteps of Paralympian Scott Meenagh and broadcaster Mike Edwards.

A leader in the field of advertising for over 30 years, Mr Beattie’s portfolio includes clients as diverse as Playstation and Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic Space Tourism Programme.

He is also a successful name in the world of film, having produced the BAFTA winning movie Moon in 2009. The cult sci-fi film starred Hollywood giant Sam Rockwell, and saw Beattie collaborate with director Duncan Jones, son of David Bowie.

A passion for aviation, and specifically wartime flight, has led to Mr Beattie becoming a long-time supporter of Veterans charity, Erskine.

His love for the subject is clear in his movies, with production company, Trevor Beattie Films, producing several feature length documentaries, including ‘Spitfire’, which focuses on the iconic single single-seated fighter aircraft used by the RAF during WWII. His latest documentary ‘Lancaster’, with the famous bomber this time the subject, is slated for 2022.

Wing Commander Ian Cumming MBE, Erskine Chief Executive, said: “I have known Trevor Beattie since his passion for aviation introduced us to one another whilst I was in the RAF Regiment. I am delighted that our paths have crossed once again as we work together to represent Erskine and fight the corner of Veterans young and old. Trevor’s talent and extensive network throughout the globe can be a real asset to the charity and we are both looking forward to him telling the story of Erskine not just here in the UK, but the world over.”

Trevor Beattie said: “When it comes to helping our Veterans, I don’t need to be asked twice. I am in awe of the work carried out by the tireless staff at Erskine homes across Scotland and I am truly honoured to have been offered this opportunity to become an ambassador for the charity.”

Mr Beattie is no stranger to supporting Veterans, having established the Jack and Ada Beattie Foundation in 2011. As part of its wider work, the charity funds an annual pilgrimage to the Beaches of Normandy for heroes and D-Day Veterans.

He added: “I have seen first-hand the bravery of our nation’s Veterans. The Erskine Veterans have fought their battles for this country, and it is now time for us all to step up to the plate and represent them.”
