Morrison Media’s new virtual media training profiled in Scottish Business Insider

COVID-19 has brought about many changes to our working lives, and none more so than in the world of media training.

Morrison Media was delighted to be profiled in Scottish Business Insider magazine, which carried a feature in its Creative pages on how we have been media training clients virtually.

As a result of the pandemic, we had to pivot our training from face-to-face, which was not allowed during lockdown, to an online offering.

The feedback has been excellent. Our regular clients welcomed this development because it gives them continuity, flexibility and the same quality product. We have also worked with lots of new clients and received similarly positive reactions.

Going forward, we can see that our media training will be a mixture of both face-to-face and virtual.

The face-to-face training still gives the immediacy and reality of dealing with a professional interviewer, a broadcast camera with a camera operator.

However, we have found that Zoom or Teams courses have also been sought after by clients, who see the value it brings. This is because broadcasters themselves have been conducting far more of their interviews in the virtual world, due to the flexibility it allows and the speed at which you can get interviewees in front of a computer camera.

No longer do you need to get a camera crew to an interviewer for a response to a breaking story.

The other benefits of virtual media training is that it has opened up a whole new global market for us. We recently ran a virtual course from Glasgow involving participants from Hong Kong, Sydney and London.

Feedback was very positive from clients, which made the 5am start in Glasgow – because of the time difference – all the more worth it.

We hope you enjoy the article, which you can find here on page 14 of the digital edition.
