Scotland’s largest Veterans charity welcomes National Clinical Director Jason Leitch to its airwaves today (Tuesday 29th June).

Erskine Veterans Radio, a 24-hour online radio station, was launched in April this year and is a new way for residents at Erskine’s network of care homes to stay connected to the outside world.

The first of its kind for Veterans in Scotland, it allows Erskine supporters across the UK and beyond to keep up to date with news about the charity, and a chance for families and friends to have messages for loved ones read on air.

Mr Leitch, whose interview will air from 12pm, is the highest profile guest the station has welcomed since launch, with the Scottish Government’s Senior Clinical Advisor ready to field questions from residents and their families.

He will answer queries such as:

When will loved ones be able to visit without the need for testing?

When does he think people will be able to stop wearing masks?

Does he think booster jabs will be required in the future?

Will there be a point in time when the pandemic will be declared over?

Mr Leitch follows the likes Erskine CEO Ian Cumming, Director of Care Derek Barron and Erskine Veteran Stevie Wylie in appearing on the show, hosted by presenter Ian Brannan. Music is played around the clock, while Ian also hosts an hour of music and conversation on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 12 noon (repeated that day at 3pm and 7pm).

Wing Commander Ian Cumming MBE, Erskine Chief Executive, said: “Erskine Veterans Radio has proven to be a big hit with our residents, their families, and our loyal supporters since its launch earlier this year.

“We are delighted to be welcoming Jason Leitch on to our airwaves and we are all looking forward to hearing his insight into what he thinks the future will being as we continue to emerge from the pandemic.”
